Essential Guitar Solo Techniques to Master

Do you want to be a professional solo guitarist? If yes, then this article may be of some use to you. Certain relevant guitar solo techniques have been mentioned here that you need to master to become a professional. The common guitar techniques that are employed by most of the solo performances are discussed below.

Pulling-off

This is one of the most effective guitar techniques that you can use to enhance your solo performances. In the Pulling-off technique you need to pluck a note on your acoustic guitar and at the same time keep you second finger ready at a lower fret to pluck the next note on your guitar.

Hammering-on

Hammering-on is just the opposite of the Pulling-off technique. Here you will have to pick a string on your acoustic guitar and keep your following second ready to hammer the next note. Bending notes

In this technique you start by playing a note and then with the finger that you are employing to fret the note you have to bend the string of your acoustic guitar up to the following note that you are intending to play. You can choose to move half a step, or a full step or one and a half steps or even two steps as well. Then, if you desire you can release the string so that you return back to the original note that you had started with.

Palm muting

Palm muting is another popular solo that is used by most solo guitarists. This is the technique which several guitarists use to bring the music to a sudden halt by dampening the strings of their acoustic guitar with the help of the palm of their playing hand.

Sliding

Sliding is one of the important guitar solo techniques used by the professionals. Here you have to fret a note and then slide up or down your guitarĂ¢€™s string to the next note. You can also choose to slide on two guitar strings at a time to create sliding chords.

Tapping

Tapping is another vital technique that you need to master to make your solo performances a hit amidst the crowd. In this technique you need to tap the fret board of your guitar with your right hand to create a note out of it.
