A network marketing scheme isn't as bad as it sounds. When people think of the word "scheme", they think of activities of a dubious nature. This couldn't be further from the truth when it comes to network marketing. First of, a network marketing business is one in which a product or a service is sold via a network of independent sales agents. These independent sales agents are independent contractors. Â
This means that they are business owners. However, instead of operating out of a brick and mortar building, they work often from home, or they are on the road a lot. If they do work out of an office, it's usually a small office that they store their products in and that they conduct their administrative tasks out of.
Network marketing schemes work in two ways. The sales rep makes money by either selling products and services, and by recruiting new sales people. The new recruits are called "downlines". The people who have done the recruiting are called "uplines". As the uplines recruit more people into the business, they acquire a team of downlines that they supervise as the leader of their own teams. When the downlines sell product, or recruit new downlines, then the uplines get a bonus on the work that the downlines do. So, it's to the advantage of the uplines to recruit as many downlines as possible.
Of course, in order for a network marketing scheme to be legitimate, the company needs to have a legitimate product or service for sale. There are a variety of products and services that people want, but they don't want to go to retail stores for these products. Many people don't like shopping at stores, and they would love to have someone bring them a catalog so that they could shop from home.
Then again, there are some products and services that aren't offered in retail stores. There are many cosmetic network marketing schemes that only sell via the network marketing format. You will never see their products sold at a department store, or at the mall. So if someone wants to buy these products, they will have to buy them via an independent sales rep.
Many people have carved out their own financial niche with network marketing schemes. Network marketing encourages people to create their own destinies in life. They encourage people to stop using their valuable time and resources on a job that only pays them survival money. They teach people that a J.O.B. pays survival money, so that the employee is trapped financially to their job position. In network marketing, the sales rep writes their own ticket. They can make as much or as little money as they wish. They can use the money to supplement their income, pay for a hobby, or to start whole new careers.
