Most societies that care about animals gave scores of unwanted dogs. It is therefore very important so socialize your puppy well so that they will get along with your family and with others. In this article you will be provided with several reasons as to why this is important.

Many reasons for surrendering dogs are that they don't get along well with the local dog, they bark too much, there are too many pets or there is no time for them. All across the world, millions of dog ends up in animal shelters every year. The majority of these unwanted dogs come from loving families that had the best of intentions. The dogs did nothing wrong, but their owners did not socialize them correctly.

Puppies come into the world with their own distinctive qualities. Some puppies are brave, while other puppies are more afraid. Some puppies are lively, while other puppies are calmer. No matter what the nature of the puppy is, the experiences that take place in the first few weeks of a puppy's life will form how they relate to the world around him. The approach you use to do this will decide whether or not they become true companions or one of the dogs that end up in an animal shelter.

Socialization should start as soon as doable in the life of a puppy. Most of us don't have our puppies from birth, so it is vital to set up a good quality relationship from the start. They way you treat your puppy, cuddle them and play with them are all ways in which you can bond with them. Disciplining your puppy should be done in a gentle manner. If you are too strict or rough with the young puppy, you may cause them to turn into a fearful dog.

Rather than telling off your puppy for having a mishap, take them outside frequently and praise them if they have relived themselves in the right manner. If a puppy has been raised in fear, they will probably react in an aggressive manner toward other dogs. Puppy's can already start socialization classes from the age of 8 weeks onwards. This will help them to experience being around other dogs and humans. The aim of these puppy classes is to get these young dogs used to new situations.

These classes don't involve a lot of training, as the puppy's attention span is too short. But most puppies are however curious, and like to visit their other puppy friends. Dog parks are also another wonderful way where dogs can play with one another and interact freely. If you notice that your puppy likes to be around people, pay a visit to a nursing home which is a wonderful way in which you can strengthen satisfactory behavior.

Dogs that get to interact with other humans and animals will display less unwanted behaviors, and this will help avoid the dog from ending up in a shelter for unwanted animals.
