Imagination is one of the most important things that the human mind can do, and it is indeed, one of the most powerful as well. So, how does one develop imaginative techniques to help foster creativity, when they have gone through the educational process to think more logically and therefore, reduced much of their creative and imaginative thinking?
This is one of the biggest problems with those that work in the creative space. If their jobs and careers are beholden to their ability to create then they must propel imagination, and foster creativity in their minds; easier said than done of course.
So, how does one foster creativity and what kind of techniques can be used to propel their imagination to come up with original thoughts, original designs, and innovations that spark the attention of onlookers? Walt Disney often said that imagination was like the mind of the child, a child knows no limits, and can imagine themselves flying, free from gravity, free from logic, and free to dream. We all too often in society put down the dreamers and the creative types, to our own folly.
You have no doubt often heard someone say; "oh her son, well he's kind of the creative type you see." In other words saying that her son is a less than competent individual, perhaps doesn't get along with people, and perhaps even is not well received by authority. Isn't it interesting that these are all the same characteristics of children?
In other words, the individuals that refuse to grow up, and therefore we think of them as creative. The reality is that people that are able to think and use that part of their brain to come up with innovations, and use their imagination to come up with new creative concepts are exactly that.
Interestingly enough, we rely on all these people for the inventions and innovations that propel our society, civilization, and species. All you need to know if you want to be more creative is to let loose of your logical mind and use your imagination; daydream. Like a child of course, have you forgotten? Please consider all this.
