Review for Plato: The Republic : This book is incredible, I have never been so frightened reading a book and yet so riveted that I couldn't stop reading. I loved this book. It grabbed me from the first page and I had trouble putting it down. Read it, you won't be disappointed.
Plato: The Republic info
1st edition of The Heritage Press 1944 publication of Plato's "The Republic." Very good to fine with very good original slip case. The binding is of cream cloth decorated with black and brown Greek images - very clean and bright with sharp gilt lettering to the spine. Everything is clean and tight with unbumped edges and sharp corners. Inside, the contents are near immaculate with no ownership inscriptions or other markings of any kind. The brown slipcase has some shelf wear (see photos) but is sound and intact. Illustrated with woodcut medallions by Fritz Kreidel and translated by Benjamin Jewett. 9 in. x 6 in., 622 pages preceded by a Note Upon the Test and a Plato Chronology. An excellent, collectible copy of this classic.
